At the same time a disturbing news also came from Maharashtra where a farmer in Osmanabad district destroyed his entire crop if he did not get a fair price for his crop. In fact, the farmer was angered by a merchant’s offer to pay just 60 per cent of the market’s price, after which he destroyed his entire crop of cabbage in an acre of land.
Umaji Chavan, a resident of Jagdalwadi village in Umerga tehsil, said that the price offered by traders who bought vegetables from farmers was so low that they had no option left and took the extremely difficult step of destroying the entire crop.
